2021 Fellow Focus: Jaime-Jin Lewis + Wiggle Room
Problem solver, innovator, tech founder…2021 Fellow Jaime-Jin Lewis of Wiggle Room shares more about her #RuthlessForGood journey.
What propelled you into the entrepreneurial space? And what do you enjoy most about being a founder?
At my core, I'm a problem solver. I wade through complex systems to find opportunities to improve outcomes for marginalized people. I enjoy being able to be in spaces that allow us to envision a better world—and then get to work building it.
Tell me about an experience you had as an entrepreneur or in starting your company that exemplified one of Camelback's core values: "Belief in Mission + Vision"; "Unafraid of Failure"; "Constant Learner"; "Humble + Hungry"; and "Give First."
In March 2020, I completely paused all existing operations at Wiggle Room to set up a free hotline to support essentials workers trying to navigate New York City's ever-changing childcare landscape. We were able to connect over 300 families with information and resources, as well as hundreds of providers over eight months. We also ran a mutual aid project that moved over $132,000 to families to pay for urgent childcare needs. It is from this experience that Wiggle Room's new focus emerged. I absolutely believe that because we "Gave First" our services in our city's time of need, we were able to build the relationships that led to the innovative ideas that we're now scaling. It was also a reminder to put our mission first and be a "Constant Learner."
As a BIPOC founder, Camelback understands that the struggle is constant, what motivates you to get up every day and keep on fighting?
I know another world is possible and I want to use my energy every day to move the needle in whatever way I can.

Why did you choose to embark on the Camelback Fellowship? And what do you hope to gain from this experience?
I had a clear product idea but I needed a lot of help making it real! I was excited about the various forms of support and structure that this Fellowship would offer to boost Wiggle Room to the next level.
