H.O.L.L.A.! | Co-Founder & Organizer | Brooklyn, NY
How Our Lives Link Altogether! (H.O.L.L.A.!) is developing a youth-led community healing strategy to bring youth of color and communities together to heal from trauma and to resist all forms of oppression. Recently H.O.L.L.A.! created the Healing Justice Youth Assessment Survey and Healing Justice Workshop and Training to engage marginalized youth of color throughout city. The Survey was created to gather data/information from other youth of color about what structures and systems cause harm to their/our community and what spaces we should construct to promote wellness for us and our communities. H.O.L.L.A.! believes healing transpires when our communities are deeply engaged in dialogue about cultural history, how power functions in our community. Healing happens when our communities are committed to building trust, and when individual and community accountability is predicated on protecting the people and the future of our existence.
CORY | "Healing is an intentional practice of political resistance against the on going onslaught of generationally inherited structural violence and secondly, to embrace and develop indigenous and grassroots traditions and practices of socio-psycho-spiritual healing to recover from the impacts historical trauma caused by chattel slavery and its multiplying legacies."
